I hope everyone had a restful Easter weekend! Today I have a fun little crafternoon technique that you can use for so many projects! Today we are doing a little yarn bombing! Yipeee! Yarn Bombing is simply the practice of wrapping ordinary things in yarn and adding color to our everyday world! You can yarn bomb anything from trees to light posts to your phone charger! We are going to be yarn bombing on a smaller scale. I will teach you a simple knot and walk you through how to start a simple yarn bracelet, yarn bomb your phone cord, and how to add a hair wrap to your hair!
My niece Olivia joined me in the yarn bombing fun! We used a simple “4” knot technique for our wrapping! Although the technique is fairly simple, yarn bombing takes quite a bit of time! It’s a great project to start one afternoon and then just pick it back up any time you get bored. Yarn bombing an entire phone cord can take a few hours so don’t get impatient. Feel free to start your projects and then work on them over the course of several days (unless your hair wrapping then you’ll probably want to finish in one sitting, unless you like walking around with a half-finished hair wrap, lol!). If you decide to join me in adding a yarn wrap to your hair, you’ll want a friend or family member to help you! I find it easier to wrap others’ hair than my own!
Get ready to yarn bomb everythinnnggg!
Project Overview
Time: 15+ min (Depends on size of project)
Materials:
1. Embroidery Floss / String / Yarn
2. Scissors
Optional:
-Hair ties, Tape, Phone Charger
Age Recomendation: 8+
Pro Tip: Hairwraps can get wet and last up to several weeks! They will slowly start to slide down your hair and when you’re ready to take it out ask someone to help you cut the knot at the crown of your head and the knot at the bottom of the wrap, then with a little encouragement it will slide off down your braid!
